We encourage families to start with FAFSAssist™ simply because of how valuable (and how easy) it makes the entire financial aid application process. How can I know if FAFSAssist+ is right for me?
Start by asking these questions.
- Are you applying to multiple competitive colleges and universities?
- Do you own a small business or a private practice?
- Are you a real estate owner?
- Do you make more than $50,000?
- Are you separated or divorced?
- Are you too busy to navigate the financial aid process on your own?
We got a letter from the University of Miami that Rachel received their highest reward. We are very happy. Given our complicated business income, I don’t know if she would have received that much if we hadn’t used your services. Thank you again.
Guess what? We did just as you instructed and Tio just heard from Lafayette and they matched Denison’s offer. 20k! That’s 80k over four years. I cannot thank you and FAFSAssist enough.
Varsha has committed to the University of Rochester.
We used your technique and she received an additional scholarship of $4,000 per year and a research grant for $3,500!
That’s $7,500 x 4 years for a total of $30,000 in more free money aid we would never have got. I had no idea that we could appeal.
Our $149.00 subscription to FAFSAssist.com was definitely worth it. Thank you for all the help and support we received from FAFSAssist.
Hi Stuart. OWU just approved Shelby’s financial aid appeal and she was granted an additional
$7,605 per year = $ 30,420 over four years. We are very happy with it. This kind of money means attending the dream college or being forced to go someplace not as good. Thank you.
Alexa has decided to attend Champlain this fall. She gave very thoughtful consideration to Eastern since the cost of attending there would have been so low. But Champlain was really where her heart was, and with the additional scholarship money she’ll receive, we are going to make it work.
As always, thank you so much for all your help and guidance through this process. I so appreciate working with you and your team.
I want to thank you very much for helping us through the aid system. You made it so easy and you filed the forms right so we got everything Lily was entitled to. We will be renewing in 2021!
I was dreading all the financial aid forms I would have to complete for triplets. We’re teachers and pretty soon we realized we were in over our heads. The investment we made in FAFSAssist organized us and filed everything making this process so much easier. We are most appreciative!
After the appeal letter Stuart helped us write, F&M called and offered $7,150 more per than the $12,250 our daughter originally received. That letter saved us $28,600 over four years! We can’t say thank often enough!
We were not getting much help from the high school and the financial aid night didn’t seem very helpful. We knew we wouldn’t qualify for a lot of aid due to our income but your service found colleges that Kaitlin loved and the forms were filled out for us which we loved and we saved a lot of money by knowing how we should answer some of the questions. And I couldn’t believe how much more money we got from a simple email to the college. Thanks so much!!!
Stuart showed us colleges that met my son’s abilities and our ability to pay for them was good to know. We didn’t even know about RIT until Stuart pointed it out to us. And not having to file the forms myself took the stress out of making a mistake. FAFSAssist did everything in minutes!
Everything Stuart told us came true. He really took care of everything for me. I had no idea I could ask for more money and they would give it. Knowing which colleges compete for the same students saved us over $32,000. (Stuart note: Over four years) That took care of the fee!
The award evaluation and the negotiation strategy worked great. Rose-Humlman came up with an additional $3,800! This is really an amazing program. We’re going to use it for our other son.
I want to thank you very much for your program. Stuart was there whenever we needed him. We now have a great college that is so affordable we couldn’t be happier. This has made it possible for my child to be the first to go to college from my family.
It was definitely worth every penny to have the peace of mind that somebody knew better than I as to what to do. We have a complicated situation and hiring Stuart was an excellent value. Every parent at my daughter’s high school is going to know about FAFSAssist+.

Isn’t this information available for free?
While in some instances parents may be able to obtain raw data for free, FAFSAssist™ gathers and presents information that can be more helpful and individualized for high school students than can be obtained from a library or raw statistical data without contexts. And there isn’t any free source to manage the entire financial aid process.
Is FAFSAssist+™ a flat fee or do you get a percentage of the aid we receive?
Good question! FAFSAssist+™ charges a one-time flat fee for first-time freshmen for the academic year the student. In fact, it’s impossible for us to receive any of your child’s financial aid. Even if we could we would never dream of taking any of it.
Can you guarantee that my child will receive a grant or scholarship?
No company or person can guarantee that your student will receive any financial aid. If they do, that should be a sign to take your business elsewhere. Ultimately, that decision is made by the colleges, state education authorities, the federal government, and independent scholarship bodies. What we can do is make sure that you’ve done everything you can to receive every last dollar you’re entitled to.
Should I pay for FAFSAssist+ when there are other free options?
Maybe you shouldn’t. Every family has access to free resources that can help them navigate the financial aid system including high school guidance counselors, local college financial aid offices, and the Department of Education website. But financial aid directors and loan officers are often overwhelmed and just not able to give you access to the range of options and strategies that a Financial Aid Guru can.
If your child has their sight set on attending a community college or a lower-tier state college or university, FAFSAssist+™ probably won’t give you much more of a financial advantage–outside of making the process more convenient for you.
However, if you’re child plans on applying to your flagship public or private university or have a unique family situation (i.e. you own a business, own real estate, make more than $50,000, or separated or divorced) or if you’re just too busy to navigate the process on your own then FAFSAssist+™ can give you the clarity and edge you need to potentially save tens of thousands of dollars each year.
“I like to tell people you don’t need to hire anybody to assist you with your FAFSA, but you don’t need to hire someone to mow your lawn either,” says Karen McCarthy, senior policy analyst for the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. “But for some people, that’s worth it.”
Consultants and advisers offer a range of services, McCarthy says. Some may offer a holistic college planning service that includes college selection advice, while others may have a more limited focus on finding scholarship money and maximizing financial aid eligibility.
The services aren’t free, and experts say no matter the price, make sure the adviser doesn’t make unrealistic promises and that you know how he or she will be compensated.
“Don’t pay people who guarantee a certain type of return in terms of the financial aid that you would receive or who charge a fee based on the percentage of financial aid that you would receive,” McCarthy says.
If your family does decide to hire someone, be clear on what you’re getting, she says. For instance, if a consultant offers to do a scholarship search, make sure it’s not a simple internet search that you could do on your own.
How do I know if my family’s financial situation is unique enough for FAFSAssist+™ ?
Sometimes FAFSAssist+™ is worth it just to save you the hassle of trying to navigate the process on your own. But for many families with a unique financial situation, it can be especially challenging to leverage it to your advantage–unless you have a personal coach to help you along the way.
Some examples of these unique situations might include: owning a small business or private practice, suffering a significant financial setback or tragedy (e.g. death in the family, COVID-19, bankruptcy, natural disaster, loss of job, etc.), applying to multiple competitive colleges at once, owning real estate, being separated or divorced, and more. The easiest way to know for sure is to meet one-on-one with the Financial Aid Guru. This is a no-obligation 15-minute consultation. If we can’t help you we’ll point you in the right direction.
How much more money will I receive through FAFSAssist+™ ?
No one can guarantee how much financial aid your student will receive. That’s up to the government and the college. But, by using FAFSAssist+™ and following some of its recommendations we can help maximize the chances of receiving the most amount of aid possible.
Just the other day, a family upgraded to FAFSAssist+™ and thanks to the Financial Aid Guru, they were able to negotiate and receive an extra $20,000 in aid from a very competitive college. Before the negotiation, they were told they weren’t eligible for anything!
Don't pay more for college than you need to.
